Mission Statement

Most of us live in cities. Cities around the world are the place in which we share our most meaningful experiences. They are more than just concrete and bricks, shops and homes. They are where most of us work, play, build and create; where we shape our shared sense of identity. The city is our new commons.

The Urban Commons is an online journal focused on the politics and culture of city life. I try to explore cities and urban life through urbanism, the arts, architecture, transportation and economics.

I also want this journal to serve as the first online love poem to your respective cities. We know you’re in love, so just admit it already. Share with us what makes you [heart] your city.
